Coronavirus Updates for Orpheus

Now we are again in national lockdown, I wanted to update on how Orpheus is responding.

We are planning to commence coronavirus testing of students and staff shortly, perhaps as soon as the week of 4 January, once we have completed setting up our testing site and training staff.

So that we are able to obtain informed consent and implement effective testing procedures, we will follow a changed schedule that gives us the best chance to deliver safe and effective services.

Our remote learning is now in action and the wellbeing of the students and our workforce of staff and volunteers is uppermost in my mind as we strive to continue providing high quality learning and care.

On site we are all continuing with additional cleaning, hand hygiene, use of face coverings, hand/face/space activities, ventilation of rooms, using PPE where required and minimising our contacts. Every person is working as hard as possible to minimise disruption, but the circumstances are extremely challenging.

We remained open through the national lockdown last March providing remote learning for offsite students and supported our onsite students to continue their education in the safest way.

This time the risks are higher with the increased rates of transmission of the new variant. We are entering this lockdown with more knowledge and experience and less innocence than we perhaps had last March. I thank you once again for your patience, understanding and support as we work through this time.
